ZAGREB/SPLIT, Sept 3 (Hina) - An Italian citizen succumbed to
injuries on Thursday after a confrontation with police.
Riccardo Cetina, 44, resisted arrest for disorderly conduct in a
Split restaurant on Tuesday, attacking a police officer who was
called to the scene to intervene.
Due to injuries sustained when police used force to contain Cetina,
he was hospitalised in the central Adriatic town of Sibenik, from
where he was later transferred to Split.
According to an Interior Ministry statement, the case is being
investigated by internal affairs and police.
Doctor of duty at the Split hospital, Antun Bacic, told Hina on
Thursday afternoon that Cetina had been admitted on Wednesday night
and had been in a coma.
According to Bacic, Cetina died from contusions and haemorrhaging
in the brain.

surgeon established that brain functions had ceased, and surgery
was futile.
Cetina was put on a respirator, but suffered cardiac arrest on
Thursday evening.

performed on Friday morning.
Bacic could not say how Cetina had sustained the injuries, but that
