MOSTAR, Aug 7 (Hina) - Croat officials in the Herzegovina-Neretva
Canton on Friday made a decision on the temporary purchase of
surplus agricultural products from Herzegovina farmers.
An authorised municipal body has been entrusted with issuing
certificates on the origin of agricultural goods.
The decision was prompted by a traffic blockade of border crossings
between Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina by Herzegovina farmers who
were dissatisfied with a regulation on the payment of an eight per
cent customs rate for goods exported from Bosnia-Herzegovina to
Croatia.
The purchase of the agricultural surplus will be taken over by a
private company from Medjugorje.
Herzegovina farmers also claim that agricultural products from
Montenegro and Macedonia, transported via the Bosnian Serb entity,
are sold on markets in Herzegovina and the lower prices are
threatening the sale of domestic products.
