PRISTINA, Aug 3 (Hina) - At least 63 Kosovo Albanians, mostly
civilians, were killed in the past seven days in a large offensive
by Serbian forces, the Kosovo Committee for the Protection of Human
Rights and Freedoms reported on Monday.
Among the dead were women, children and elderly people, the
Committee said.
It has expressed fears that the number of killed during the past
week could be considerably higher, but it is not possible to confirm
it because many parts of Kosovo are under blockade by Serbian
forces.
The Committee warned of a massive number of refugees and the danger
of a humanitarian catastrophe, while international humanitarian
organisations have been asked to offer assistance to hundreds of
thousands of Kosovo Albanians whose existence is threatened by the
Serbian offensive.
