SARAJEVO, Aug 4 (Hina) - A mixed working group will draft a
programme of measures to increase security in Travnik and the
surrounding area in central Bosnia.
This was decided at a meeting held in Sarajevo on Tuesday by deputy
international high representative for Bosnia Hans Schumacher,
International Police Task Force commander Richard Monk, Vice
President of the Croat-Muslim Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina
Vladimir Soljic, federal Premier Edhem Bicakcic and the highest
Central Bosnia Canton officials.
According to a statement from Soljic's office, the participants had
very different views of the situation in the canton and of last
week's murder of Croat policeman Ante Valjan in Travnik.
It was therefore concluded that a mixed Croat-Muslim working group
would, together with the IPTF, determine the actual security
situation and draft a programme of measures which should increase
security and make joint work of Croat and Muslim officials
possible.
Stabilisation Force (SFOR) commander Eric Shinseki will be
requested to assess the situation and as required include the SFOR
in stabilising the situation on the ground.
The political parties, the Croatian Democratic Union of BH and the
(Muslim) Party of Democratic Action were requested to create
conditions for normal and legal work in Travnik Municipality and
Central Bosnia Canton.
