TRAVNIK, July 9 (Hina)- Travnik, the seat of the central Bosnian
canton, was visited on Thursday by high official of the
international community in BH, Hanns Schumacher.
After a separate meeting with Croat representatives he asked for an
urgent integration of the cantonal interior ministry as a
prerequisite for better security in Travnik.
"I will do my best so that the investigation of the murders of
Travnik Croats would track down not only the perpetrators but also
any political or criminal quarters that might be behind them", said
Schumacher, adding that the investigation will be backed by the
International Police (IPTF).
Schumacher stressed that Travnik should be organised as a council
of municipalities, along the same lines as Mostar. He asked that the
cantonal assembly adopted a relevant constitutional amendment so
that the working groups could start the restructuring process.
After Schumacher supported the restitution of the former Jesuit
high-school to the Vrhbosanska diocese, Besim Halilovic, head of
the Travnik municipality promised that by the end of the day he
would hand the keys of the high-school building, along with the
decision on its restitution, to the principal of the local Catholic
school.
Schumacher expressed his satisfaction with the promise and said he
would personally inform Cardinal Vinko Puljic about it and check on
Thursday night whether the promise was kept.
