BRCKO, July 29 (Hina) - A draft plan for the two-way return of
refugees to the Brcko area, south-eastern Bosnia, was put off the
agenda of a multi-ethnic assembly meeting in Brcko on Tuesday.
Muslim representatives requested that the item be put off the
agenda on account of the Monday murder of Admir Kacic, a returnee to
Brcko.
They also warned about a series of provocations and attacks on
returnees, and especially about the fact that the assembly had not
been submitted a report on the security situation in Brcko.
The draft return plan and the said report will be on the agenda of a
session scheduled for August 15.
The murder of Karic, born 1975, was also condemned by the
international supervisor for Brcko Robert Farrand, who requested
all political parties and media to wait for the results of an
investigation and to restrain from making statements which could
heighten tension in the area.
Farrand expected a complete and speedy investigation, which will be
closely supervised by the United Nations and the International
Police Task Force.
According to a report of the Brcko Public Security Service, the body
of the murdered Karic bore multiple traces of torture. It is
supposed he was killed with a blunt object. The body was found by
passers-by near a hospital on Monday morning.
