VUKOVAR, Feb 16 (Hina) - Members of the Article 11 Commission, in
charge of following the implementation of the Basic Agreement on
the reintegration of the Croatian Danube River region, on Monday
visited the area.
They held separate meetings with the members of the National Trust
Establishment Committee, Croatian returnees and Serb refugees from
the area.
At a press conference held in Vukovar, Article 11 members described
their visit as useful and effective.
The Commission hails the work of the National Trust Establishment
Committee, but it also is concerned about the emigration of
Croatian Serbs, said William Montgomery, US Ambassador to
Croatia.
The right to return is the basic principle of the agreement on
reintegration and the Commission is worried about the slow pace of
return, the Commission said in a statement.
The statement welcomed the Croatian government's decision to
rescind its Regulation on the Renting of State-Owned Flats in the
Danube River region.
