ZAGREB, Jan 23 (Hina) - The first issue of Croatia Weekly, a
Croatian weekly in English, and its Internet home page, were
presented at Intercontinental Hotel in Zagreb Friday.
The weekly, published by Croatian Cultural and Information
Publishers (HIKZ), hit the news-stands on 20 January.
The president of the HIKZ administration council, Hrvoje Sarinic,
and HIKZ director Ivan Bekavac outlined the weekly's goals and
distinctions.
According to Bekavac, Croatia Weekly will feature a weekly
selection from domestic papers and magazines which will present
Croatia as best as possible.
Both Sarinic and Bekavac claimed one of the basic characteristics
of the new publication is the aim to reflect the pluralistic media
scene in Croatia. They named many weeklies and dailies, including
those usually regarded as opposition media, to be featured.
Bekavac said the whole issue of Croatia Weekly, alongside numerous
data and information on Croatia, its politics, economy, culture,
geography, history, etc. may be found on the Internet address
http://www.croatia.hr.
