SUPPORTS A BILL ON THE GOVERNMENT
( Editorial: --> 5837 )
ZAGREB, 20 Jan (Hina)- After a long debate on Tuesday, the County
House of the Croatian parliament supported a bill on the Croatian
Government.
The bill on the Croatian Government, prescribes in detail the
constitution, the competencies and decision making by the Croatian
Government and its relations with the Croatian parliament, said
Deputy Justice Minister Antun Palarić. That legal document defines
conditions for the commencement and termination of a Government's
mandate and legal procedure for Prime Minister's resignation.
Inter alia, the bill regulates the constitution of the Government's
inner cabinet, its competencies and responsibilities, as well as
the competencies of its secretary.
A novelty in the new bill is a provision empowering the central
Government to remove from office mayors and heads of cities and
municipalities who repeatedly violate laws and regulations. That
provision, said Palarić, is based on the European convention on
local self-management, which is reflected in legal systems of a
number of developed European countries.
The County House backed several bills regulating important issues
concerning air traffic, as well as a bill on protection of animals.
