ZAGREB, Jan 14 (Hina) - Croatian President Franjo Tudjman on
Wednesday received the UN Under-Secretary for peace operations,
Bernard Miyet.
He expressed satisfaction that the UNTAES mandate had been
successfully completed with the cooperation between the Croatian
government and the UN, and that the process of peaceful
reintegration of the Danubian area had been implemented
successfully.
The Croatian authority would continue its policy after the
departure of UNTAES, so that normal life could be created in the
Danube river region, Tudjman said, adding that investment by the
international community was necessary so the Danubian area could be
reconstructed.
Miyet congratulated Tudjman and the Croatian authorities for the
successful completion of the peaceful reintegration process, which
he described as a great success of the UN.
