THE HAGUE, Jan 8 (Hina) - The International Criminal Tribunal for
the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY) in The Hague has intensified the tempo
of its proceedings this year by starting two more main trials.
Along with the hearings of General Tihomir Blaskic and guards of the
prisoner-of-war camp Celebici (50km south of Sarajevo), the trial
of Zlatko Aleksovski, the manager of Kaonik jail in central Bosnia,
began on 6 January.
The starting date of the trial of Slavko Dokmanovic, who is accused
of taking part in massacres of Croats taken from Vukovar Hospital on
20 January 1991, has been set down for 19 January.
Given that the ICTY uses only one court room, Dokmanovic will stand
trial in the morning and Blaskic in the afternoon.
The ICTY also announced that an additional temporary court room
should be completed in April.
