"I wouldn't comment on his statements," Minister Karamarko said on Thursday adding that this was just one more example of people suspected of crimes portraying themselves as political victims.
Sanader's lawyer Goran Suic has sent letters to several addresses in Europe including the European Commission, in which Sanader accuses the Croatian government of stating incorrectly in a report on the judiciary and fundamental rights policy area within its EU entry talks that indictments were issued against him whereby the government also ignored his right to presumption of innocence.
Asked by reporters whether it was normal for the police to investigate its chief director Oliver Grbic following allegations by former Deputy Prime Minister Damir Polancec implicating Grbic as an initiator of anonymous reports against Opposition leaders, Karamarko said that it "is very normal as there the Interior Ministry's internal control department that is investigating not only Grbic but also hundreds of police officers suspected of breaching professional rules of conduct or even the law".
