HSP leader says no one has answered for war crimes in Ernestinovo

Autor: mses
ERNESTINOVO, May 24 (Hina) - The leader of the Croatian Party of Rights (HSP), Daniel Srb, expressed regret at seeing that "memories of victims in the municipality of Ernestinovo are passing into oblivion" while war crimes' perpetrators "are walking freely".

Srb told a news conference in the eastern Croatian town of Ernestinovo on Tuesday that 12 civilian victims from the war in the early 1990s had been buried in a mass grave in the Ernestinovo Park and that another eight inhabitants were still registered as missing and that no one had yet been prosecuted for that crime.

During the war, 100 inhabitants and Croatian soldiers were killed in this area and what is worrisome is that those who killed them still walk freely in nearby towns and villages, Srb said, calling for revising the enforcement of the law on general amnesty for former Serb insurgents.

The Ernestinovo municipal head, Matija Greif, said that the town had 2,200 residents and that the fact that 100 people were killed during the Homeland Defence War was horrible.
