ZAGREB, April 6 (Hina) - The Croatian parliament on Friday continued its session with a discussion on a final bill on the election of members to representation bodies of units of local and regional self-government which, for the upcoming local elections in May, proposes a proportional and not, as it was the case so far, joint electoral model. According to the new law, only persons with residence in units of local and regional self-government in which they are running for office, can put up their candidacy, Croatian Justice Minister Stjepan Ivanisevic said. Ivanisevic added that a separate law would regulate the issue of the representation of national minorities in units of local and regional self-government, considering there are still no official results from the census, which would show the share of national minorities in the overall population of a unit.
