ZAGREB, March 30 (Hina) - The Croatian Parliament on Friday adopted
a report by the State Audit Bureau on the work of veterans'
associations, clinics and national parks during 1998 and 1999.
Since the audit registered a number of irregularities, the report
will be sent to competent institutions.
The Parliament will forward the report to the state prosecutor's
office, the state attorney's office , Interior Ministry and
financial police, as well as members of association of Homeland
Defence War associations in whose work irregularities have been
found.
The irregularities were harshly decried by representatives of the
six-party ruling coalition, who were, in turn, denounced by Juraj
Njavro on behalf of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ). He agreed
that some expenses were too large, but said the associations were
being criticised for accountancy omissions which were made due to
lack of competence.
The Parliament also adopted conclusions by the Foreign Affairs
Committee on the implementation of the Dayton Agreement, which
insist on a consistent implementation of the peace agreement and
decisions of the Bosnia-Herzegovina Constitutional Court on the
constitutive quality of all three peoples in the country.
The conclusions also voice regret about the decision of the Croat
National Congress on the proclamation of a Croat self-rule, and
stresses that decisions of the international community on
temporary electoral rules for the Bosnian Federation's House of
Peoples have jeopardised the equality of the Croat people in
relation to the other two constituent peoples (Serbs and
Bosniaks).
