LONDON, Sept 29 (Hina) - Business people in London believe in
Croatia's political and economic future and want to take part in the
country's development, London City Mayor Arthur Alderman said
after talks with Croatian Prime Minister Ivica Racan in London on
Monday. #L#
Racan arrived in the British capital on Sunday for a working visit
at the invitation of Prime Minister Tony Blair. He started his visit
by meeting the City mayor.
The City has absolute confidence in Croatia and its political and
economic future and believes that Croatia has a very promising
future, Alderman said, adding that British business people wanted
to be part of that future.
"The authorities in London appreciate very much what we have done
for the political and macroeconomic stabilisation of Croatia,
which is the only guarantee for the future of the country," Racan
said after the working lunch, adding that he answered "a number of
serious and important questions" by representatives of London's
business and financial community.
Trade between Croatia and Great Britain in 2002 totalled 279.7
million dollars, which is 1.79 percent of Croatia's overall foreign
trade. In the first four months of this year, trade increased by
37.5 percent compared to the same period last year.
