Stressing that he was going to fight for extra-budgetary funds, Primorac told a news conference on Wednesday after a protest rally of teachers and scientists' trade unions in front of the government building in Zagreb, that he expected a USD 85-million loan from the World Bank for the national education system. Of this amount, 56 million dollars is likely to be approved next year, he explained.
Commenting on the protest rally of teachers and scientists in St Mark's Square, who demanded more funds for the schooling system, the minister said he supported their cause.
"The message of the trade unions is clear, but one can wonder whether it is pointless to protest on the day when the budget is being adopted," Primorac said.
