ZAGREB, April 29 (Hina) - The Croatian Parliament continued its 6th session on Thursday with a debate on proposals by the coalition of the Croatian People's Party (HNS) and the Alliance of Primorje and Gorski Kotar (PGS) and by the
Istrian Democratic Assembly (IDS), which proposed among other things that mayors and heads of municipalities and counties be elected by direct ballot.
ZAGREB, April 29 (Hina) - The Croatian Parliament continued its 6th
session on Thursday with a debate on proposals by the coalition of the
Croatian People's Party (HNS) and the Alliance of Primorje and Gorski
Kotar (PGS) and by the Istrian Democratic Assembly (IDS), which
proposed among other things that mayors and heads of municipalities
and counties be elected by direct ballot.#L#
The Government rejected both proposals saying that it would soon put
forward its own bill that would fully regulate local election
procedure and the functioning of local government.
