ZAGREB, April 15 (Hina) - The Croatian parliament will be in session
from April 21 to 30 to discuss some 30 items on the agenda, including
the political aspects of allegations contained in indictments issued
by the Hague war crimes tribunal against generals Markac and Cermak,
Sabor Speaker Vladimir Seks announced on Thursday.#L#
Seks said that conclusions to be drawn up by a special working group
would serve as a platform for the discussion on the allegations by the
Hague tribunal.
Whether or not the Sabor will discuss indictments against six Bosnian
Croats will depend on an agreement to be reached by parliamentary
parties.
Seks said that the parliamentary parties were yet to agree on the form
of discussion on the "unacceptable allegations" from the Hague
tribunal indictments.
The agenda is also expected to include a media bill, amendments to the
Penal Code and the final versions of the bill preventing conflict of
interest and the bill on the transfer of power.
Seks announced that he would address a memorial service for the
victims of the WWII Jasenovac concentration camp, scheduled for April
25.
The speaker presented details of the Sabor's performance and
expenditure, indicating that the present parliament was more effective
and cheaper than the previous one.
The present parliament has up to now passed 38 bills into law, while
the previous parliament adopted a total of 25 bills in the same
period, including nine bills that ratified international treaties.
From its inaugural session on December 22, 2003 until March 22, 2004,
the present parliament earmarked 986,000 kuna (approximately 131,000
euros) to cover the costs of MPs, while the previous parliament spent
1.5 million kuna (200,000 euros) for the same purpose from January 1,
2003 to March 31, 2003.
