The Supreme Defence Council feels it is important that
Serbia-Montenegro be admitted to NATO's Partnership for Peace
programme as soon as possible as this would contribute to the solving
of the Kosovo crisis and help stabilise security in the region, Radio
B92 said on Saturday.
On Thursday, the day after clashes broke out between ethnic Albanians
and Serbs, NATO rejected the Supreme Defence Council's proposal that
the Serbia-Montenegro Army help KFOR and UNMIK units in Kosovo.
Under Resolution 1244, the Serbia-Montenegro Army may be engaged in
Kosovo in four cases -- maintenance of contact with international
troops, demining, presence at border crossings, and protection of
cultural and religious facilities.
