ZAGREB, March 5 (Hina) - The Croatian Peasant Alliance (HSS) said on Friday it was shocked at the government's decision to allow the import of beef from Finland and Austria. The HSS said beef imports from the two countries were
unnecessary and questionable healthwise.

Croatian Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Minister Petar
Cobankovic recently adopted a decision revoking the ban on beef
imports from Finland and Austria, after a team of experts monitoring
mad cow disease recommended that the ban be lifted.
The HSS says it was prepared to use all available means to protect the
interests of Croatian farmers.
