ZAGREB, Dec 1 (Hina) - The Croatian Ministry of Family Affairs,
War Veterans and Inter-generational Solidarity on Thursday strongly protested
against a poster showing disabled war veterans at a soccer match wearing
jerseys with "Republika Srpska" written on them having been displayed at the
sixth conference of countries-members of the International Campaign to Ban
Landmines, which is taking place in Zagreb between November 28 and December
2. "The displaying of the provocative word Republika Srpska brings
into question the fairness of the campaign itself and insults Croatian Homeland
War veterans and their families," the ministry said in a statement.
The ministry said that by displaying the poster the organisers of the
event were ignoring facts and events that occurred during the aggression on
Croatia.
Parliamentary deputies of the ruling Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ)
today asked that an advisor on de-mining at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and
European Integration, Dijana Plestina, be relieved of duty due to the poster
displayed at the Zagreb conference on de-mining.
