The OSCE will be very active in Kosovo and the EU will have to rely on the OSCE, which has 1,900 people on the ground there, Rupel said at a news conference speaking about Slovenia's position on the OSCE's activities during Slovenia's presidency of the organisation and an OSCE ministerial meeting to be held in Ljubljana on 5 and 6 December.
Sixty-two delegations, 53 from member-countries and nine from OSCE partner-countries, and more than 40 ministers have announced their attendance at the conference, which Rupel called the biggest political event in independent Slovenia.
By presiding the OSCE over the last year Slovenia has affirmed its role of an active and responsible member of the international community, Rupel said, emphasising Slovenia's activities in the Western Balkans, as well as in the Caucasus and Central Asia, where the OSCE faced the greatest challenges during the country's presidency.
