Our cooperation is exceptional, Fuentes said in Vienna on Thursday, adding that President Stjepan Mesic, Prime Minister Ivo Sanader and government ministers visited the Mission's headquarters in Zagreb several times.
Fuentes said that the country needed to invest more effort with regard to the continuation of political reforms, the rule of law, the reform of the election legislation and the judiciary, and refugee return.
We are working with the Croatian government to make progress in those areas, Fuentes told Hina and Croatian Radio before his address to the OSCE Permanent Council.
He welcomed the fact that the Hague war crimes tribunal had referred some cases to the Croatian judiciary, such as the Ademi case.
Commenting on the return and reintegration of refugees, Fuentes stressed the importance of implementing the Sarajevo declaration by the end of 2006.
Croatia has been making considerable efforts and achieving progress in very difficult areas, said Fuentes, who will submit a report on Croatia's progress in the last six months, with special emphasis on refugee return, judicial reform, war crimes and media legislation.
