EU ministers concluded at an informal meeting in Great Britain last week that the risk of a bird flu pandemic is very low and the EU countries have set up a coordinating body to respond appropriately to bird flu, Ljubicic recalled.
Hungary has developed a vaccine against bird flu and we are following the initial clinical tests, Ljubicic said, adding that the vaccine would be available in Croatia soon after registration.
The vaccine will be given to high-risk staff working with poultry and birds, like veterinarians and poultry breeders, the minister said.
