"All birds will have to be tested to see whether they are carrying avian influenza virus," European Commission health spokesman Philip Tod told a daily briefing. "This should be done
as quickly as possible where there is a suspicion."
Tod reiterated a call by the European Commission that all 25 countries of the bloc should prepare sufficient quantities of antiviral drugs to counter a possible flu pandemic.
He declined to name the countries which have failed to meet the request.
"It is the responsibility of member states to prepare," he said.
EU foreign ministers are expected to discuss the bird flu outbreak in Luxembourg on Tuesday, Reuters said.
