"We checked all the information received by our services about where... Gotovina might be staying and all reports confirmed that he was not in Croatia. If there is any information, our services will check them thoroughly," Mesic said in the northern Adriatic port of Pula.
Commenting on the explosion at the British Embassy in Zagreb on Monday, the president said it was an individual act which could not affect Croatia's relations with Great Britain.
"It was neither a terrorist act behind which was some organisation nor was it a serious attack on Croatian or British interests," said Mesic.
Asked by the press if some top state officials had not embarrassed themselves by rushing with such assessments, Mesic said he had not given statements to that effect and that the question should be put to those who had.
