The Assembly, based in the northern Croatian coastal city of Porec, said on Monday that it was unacceptable to see that the government and a part of war veterans, participants in the August 1995 Operation storm, were preparing separate celebrations, and urged veterans to organise, in cooperation with institutions of the Republic of Croatia, celebrations of anniversaries of battles from the Homeland Defence War.
The Assembly describes as inadmissible that a part of the Croatia Diaspora, that is dissatisfied with the current official policy of Zagreb, is planning to hold protest rallies in front Croatian embassies and consulates abroad, with the other part of the Diaspora announcing rallies in support of the current government in Croatia.
According to the press release, the divisions are to the detriment to the nation and the country Croatians belong to, and the Assembly appeals for the promotion of unity among Croatians.
