Most Italians consult the ministry's web pages to obtain information about the situation in a country before going away for the holidays.
The Corriere Della Sera daily on Sunday carried the ministry's recommendations.
Italians are advised to go to the Croatian Adriatic coast and the ministry says "There are no problems in Istria and Rijeka, on the Dalmatian coast and islands, the Varazdin area, the Zagreb area".
The ministry also mentions dangerous areas in Croatia because of mine fields in Slavonia, the Karlovac area, and especially the Croatian-Serbian border.
The ministry advises Italians, among other places, not to go to Serbia-Montenegro, saying there is no safe part in this country, that Belgrade is rule by crime, while Novi Sad, Pancevo and Kragujevac are highly polluted.
