Kandic recently said that Nikolic was in the Croatian village of Antin in 1991 when the Radicals of Vojislav Seselj, who was indicted by the Hague war crimes tribunal, killed more than 30 locals.
"The persecution which began after the showing of the video of the killing of six Srebrenica residents... must stop," Nikolic told the press. He added the SRS would not tolerate among its members someone who was established to have broken the law, notably a party vice president if he had indeed committed a war crime.
Kandic said in a written statement to the media the charges brought against her would "make some headway in shedding light on what really happened in Antin, given that nearly all institutions of Serbia, just like the military security, have allegedly established that they are not in the possession of documents linking or charging Tomislav Nikolic with war crimes".
She added it was telling that Nikolic no longer boasted about his war exploits as a Chetnik as he at one time did publicly in parliament.
