ZAGREB, June 23 (Hina) - Croatian Parliament Speaker Vladimir Seks on Thursday issued a message on the occasion of Statehood Day.

Seks said that by marking Statehood Day on June 25 Croatia remembered with pride and dignity the day in 1991 when the Croatian parliament adopted the constitutional decision on Croatia's sovereignty and independence.

According to Seks, 25 June 1991 was a key date in Croatian history which represented a watershed on the road to the sovereignty, independence, international affirmation and territorial integrity of Croatia.

Seks said that by marking Statehood Day Croatia also remembered all the soldiers and all who gave their lives for the peace and freedom of this and future generations.

In his message, issued on parliament's behalf, Seks also recalled the role of Croatia's first president, the late Franjo Tudjman, and wished all citizens the best for Statehood Day.
