"The proposed cuts refer to those areas where the state is expected to be the most active - employment, health care, and subsidies which are expected to make companies competitive in relation to their rivals in the EU," the union said in a statement.
It added that the budgetary cuts would make it impossible to achieve the projected living standards, growth and development in the 2003-2007 period.
Commenting on announcements about the introduction of declarations of assets, the union said this was demagogy.
"The government may have missed its last chance to restore its credibility, accepting superficial and partial solutions which only serve to protect the interests of foreign financial sectors gathered in the IMF, to the detriment of Croatian citizens," reads the statement signed by SSSH leader Vesna Dejanovic.
