Josip Jovic was interviewed on Friday in connection with an article he published in 2000 in Slobodna Dalmacija daily, of which he was editor-in-chief, revealing the identity of protected witnesses.
"In Western countries no one would dare launch such proceedings against a journalist because there is no law on which such proceedings could be based," he said, adding that he said nothing at today's interview, leaving it up to his lawyers to agree on further procedure.
Jovic is represented by Kresimir Krsnik and Veljko Miljevic, who represented Markica Rebic, another Croat accused of contempt of court, before the Hague tribunal earlier this week.
Miljevic said they were informed of what the charges against Jovic might be based on and that it might be contempt of court.
He declined to say if Jovic had been called to appear at the Hague tribunal's office in Zagreb in writing as well as by telephone, but said his client decided to cooperate.
Jovic's attorneys said that another interview would be agreed once they had more detailed information.
