"The talks between the two partner parties will continue and the SDSS's position on the national level will not change until all issues are resolved," SDSS vice-president Milorad Pupovac said after the talks.
He stressed that the SDSS would continue to insist on the consistent implementation of the Election Law and the Constitutional Law on Minority Rights.
"After local government bodies are established, we will assess how those laws have been applied and discuss cooperation issues and those points of the agreement between the HDZ and the SDSS which we consider important," Pupovac said.
Reporters wanted to know if the SDSS would be satisfied if the quota in local government bodies belonging to the Serb minority under the Constitutional Law would be filled from other lists.
"If that is in line with the Law, we would not be able to do anything about it, satisfied or not, but we do insist on the Law being strictly applied," Pupovac said.
Asked whether his party had abandoned its earlier position tying cooperation with the HDZ on the national level with cooperation in some regions, particularly in Knin, Pupovac said one should wait for the talks to be completed.
HDZ and government spokesman Ratko Macek said there was no reason to question the coalition on the national level, reiterating that the HDZ would not give up the principle of subsidiarity, neither in Knin nor in other towns.
He said that the HDZ would honour the Constitutional Law on Minority Rights and that this position had never been questioned.
