Slovene police are still in the territory which is registered in land books as belonging to Croatia. The Croatian Medjimurje County Police Department has deployed an intervention platoon on the opposite side to maintain security in that area, the spokesman said.
The border crossing is open to traffic and all persons in possession of local border crossing passes can use it, he said.

On Wednesday afternoon the Slovene police deployed a special purposes unit in the Croatian cadastral district near the village of Murisce, close to the Sveti Martin na Muri-Hotiza border crossing.
About 50 Slovene policemen took up positions 50 to 100 metres inside Croatian territory on the local road leading to the village on the Mura river which is on the Croatian side. On Wednesday evening, an unidentified perpetrator cut down six trees across the road and dug through the road to block passage.
The incident broke out on Wednesday morning when a three-member Slovene state television crew was taken to the police station in Mursko Sredisce after they crossed the border without the necessary passes. They were found in Croatian territory by a joint Croatian-Slovene police patrol.
No charges were pressed against the Slovene reporters. After an interview with the Croatian police, they were escorted to the border crossing. Later on, another group of eight Slovene reporters also crossed the border illegally and were escorted by Croatian police to the border crossing.
