Over the past years, media reported on several occasions about an initiative aimed at honouring the victims of the fascist and communist regimes. The initiative would be realised with the three presidents jointly visiting mass graves containing the bodies of Italians, Croatians and Slovenes.
In his brief letter, that was also sent to Slovene President Janez Drnovsek, the Italian president expressed interest in such a trilateral meeting, adding that the three countries should agree on details. Slovene president Drnovsek said recently it was time to turn a new page of history.
The president of the Assembly of the Italian Union in Croatia, Furio Radin, and the president of the union's executive board, Maurizio Tremul, have sent a letter of support to the joint gesture of the Italian-Croatian-Slovene reconciliation, the Italian Union reported today.
