The Slovene media earlier on Saturday quoted Slovene Interior Minister Dragutin Mate as saying that the works on the construction of the Mura embankment near the Sveti Martin - Hotiza border crossing should resume on Monday.
Later in the evening, Mehun said that as far as the Croatian police are concerned, there are no obstacles for the continuation of the construction.
During the work, "the Croatian police will cooperate with their Slovene colleagues so that the construction can be carried out smoothly", the spokesman added.
According to some unofficial information, managers of the companies engaged in the construction - Croatia's Vodogradnja and Slovenia's Vodno Gospodarstvo - will meet on Monday to agree on a further pace in the work on the construction site on the left bank of the Mura River.
After the preparatory works were marked by some incidents, prime ministers, Ivo Sanader of Croatia and Janez Jansa of Slovenia, met in the contested region eight days ago and agreed that the two countries should continue building together the levee.
