The so-called screening is an in-depth analysis of the adjustment of Croatia's legislation with that of the EU.
Committee chairman Ivica Racan said the debate focused on the need to implement and respect the existing laws.
"We are aware that negotiations on each chapter, including this one, cannot be only about a paper and about law, but also about the implementation of laws," Racan said after the committee session in the parliament building.
Racan stressed the implementation of laws was very important in the negotiating process.
