Casaretti, who is on a three-day visit to Croatia, said after the talks that the Croatian Navy was making constant progress in terms of its organisation and that in coming years NATO would count on Croatia's help in control operations, such as those in the Mediterranean.
The two officials agreed that a Croatian officer should be sent to the NATO headquarters in Naples to work on coordinating the cooperation.
Vice-Admiral Casaretti is commander of NATO's naval forces, one of the three components of NATO's Headquarters Allied Joint Force Command in Naples.
He also commands the operation "Active Endeavour" in which NATO ships control navigation safety in the Mediterranean.
