The film is about the struggle of the Croatian people against communist repression in the former Yugoslavia and the 1990s fight for independence.
It is a story about the author's father, Krunoslav Brkusic of Hvar, who in 1957, at the age of 17, fled Yugoslavia as a political emigrant to the United States. He visited Croatia again only after the country won independence.
Brenda Brkusic, 25, was born in Chigaco and now lives in Los Angeles where she works for the PBS TV station.
She is the producer, director and scriptwriter of this film which features actors such as Micheal York and John Savage.
