Speaking about Croatia's EU accession talks, Steenblock said he was impressed by the strength and determination Croatia was demonstrating on its path to the EU, as well as by Croatia's support to regional cooperation. He added that a positive attitude towards reforms, stability and regional cooperation was very important for Southeast Europe and that Croatia had proven to be a regional leader in that regard.
Jarnjak confirmed Croatia's European prospects, adding that EU membership was its main goal, but that the country would always promote cooperation and peaceful coexistence among neighbouring countries as a key to the prosperity of the entire region.
Steenblock confirmed Germany's support to the initiative to base EU membership talks with Croatia and Turkey on an individual approach to each country.
