SPLIT, April 1 (Hina) - The ruling Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ)
of Prime Minister Ivo Sanader should do more than just lobby for Croatia in
Europe and more than just correct its own wrong decisions, the leader of the
strongest opposition Social Democratic Party (SDP), Ivica Racan, said on
Saturday. Speaking at a press conference in the southern coastal
city of Split, Racan expressed his doubts about an announcement made by Prime
Minister Ivo Sanader that the next parliamentary elections would be held
according to schedule.
"I believe Sanader and his repeated statements that elections will be
held according to schedule, but since he has changed his opinion about
important issues before, we will take his statement with caution. We will be
ready if elections are held ahead of schedule," he said.
