According to a statement from NATO headquarters in Sarajevo, the troops searched a building housing the apartment of Nemanja Vasic, a former senior official of the Serb Democratic Party (SDS), and two commercial establishments in his ownership.
We believe that the firm "Trivas", the cafe "3" and Nemanja Vasic are associated with the network of supporters of Radovan Karadzic. The search was conducted as part of efforts to gather additional information about Karadzic's support network and establish his current whereabouts, the statement said.
NATO spokesman Derek Chapell told reporters in Prnjavor that Vasic would be questioned, but that his arrest was not planned.
No incidents were reported during the search operations, and the local police provided support.
Vasic had served as head of the Directorate for Roads in the Bosnian Serb entity before he was sacked in 2004 by the then High Representative Paddy Ashdown on suspicion of assisting fugitives from the Hague tribunal.
