Everybody agrees that the pre-1999 situation is unsustainable any longer and that is why Kosovo's road towards independence is almost inevitable, said Straw in Salzburg where he arrived on Friday for a two-day informal meeting of European Union foreign ministers.
On Saturday, the EU ministers will discuss western Balkan countries' European prospects and the discussion will commence with the issue of Kosovo's final status.
According to a draft statement which the ministers are expected to adopt tomorrow regarding the western Balkan countries' EU prospects, the 2003 Thessaloniki declaration supporting those countries' efforts to join the European bloc will be endorsed.
Individual achievements of each country will be taken into account as well as the Union's absorption capacity with regard to this matter, according to the draft.
