because the European Union demanded it but because the public expects its,
Prime Minister Ivo Sanader said on Friday at a round table debate in the
Croatian Academy of Arts and Sciences called "The National Programme on
Corruption Prevention". The main objective of the anti-corruption
plan is to reduce corruption as much as possible, with the help of all factors
in society, the PM said.
He presented the measures his cabinet had taken in the past two and a
half years to prevent corruption.
The PM said that regardless of political beliefs, fighting corruption
must be a common goal for everyone.
The round table debate was also attended by Croatian Justice Minister
Ana Lovrin and representatives of all three branches of the authority.
