"These two issues have nothing to do with each another," Sanader said when asked to comment on a new Italian law under which a large number of Croatian and Slovene citizens can obtain Italian citizenship, which is being compared to the Croatia-Bosnia agreement on dual citizenship.
"The agreement on dual citizenship is the continuation of a good practice of Croatia and Bosnia, because both countries have other similar agreements. This has nothing to do with Italy," Sanader told a news conference with Terzic at his side.
The PM said Croatia has very food and concrete political relations with Italy except when it comes to issues being raised "now ahead of elections".
According to Sanader, Croatia will carefully examine the Italian law and if necessary it will inform the Council of Europe and the European Union.
"We want to examine the law in peace and see what it really means, what the changes are about and if the amendments are in line with European and Croatian standards, after which we will respond," Sanader said.
