The conclusions of the "National Security and Prospects of Transport in the Republic of Croatia" also stated that Croatia's role in Euro-Atlantic integration and its contribution to stability lie not primarily in the participation of its troops in missions abroad but in securing energy routes which cross the region.
It was also concluded that it is necessary to set up a strategic institute for national security in view of coordinating and integrating scientific and technological efforts in the fight against terrorism, both on national and global level.
The conference noted that one of Croatia's key strategic interests in the 21st century is water management and overall care for the water economy, and commended the government's efforts in building the Vukovar-Samac canal between the Danube and the Sava.
The event pooled about 40 experts in defence, security, transport, telecommunications and energetics who spoke of Croatia's contribution in stabilising the region in terms of transport of people, goods and energy sources.
