Damir Kajin of the Istrian Democratic Party (IDS) said that the decision to replace the minister was not usual due to suspicion that Skare Ozbolt leaked documents.
The biggest problem would be if it proved true that secret services had the minister under surveillance, because the question would arise on whose order, Kajin said.
Kajin believes that Skare Ozbolt's replacement will slow down judicial reform and that it will not contribute to the trust in the government, but added that there was no government crisis.
Ivica Racan of the Social Democrats said he could understand the problems of coalition governments, but added that the reason for the replacement left many questions unanswered.
Independent MP Slaven Letica and Frano Piplovic of the Democratic Centre (DC) asked PM Ivo Sanader to state the real reasons for the replacement as well as the former minister's results.
Sanader replied that he was proud about the results of the judicial reform and Skare-Ozbolt's contribution to it, but that the reform was a government project and that it would continue at an even faster pace.
The Party of Rights (HSP) did not oppose the replacement, dissatisfied with the fact that generals indicted by the Hague war crimes tribunal had difficulty obtaining documents relevant for their defence.
Ivan Cehok of the Croatian Social-Liberal Party (HSLS) supported Skare Ozbolt's replacement, stating that she was a good minister.
