Lovrin's appointment was supported by 82 deputies, while 15 deputies abstained and 25 voted against. The new minister was an MP from the ranks of the ruling Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) and chairwoman of the parliamentary committee on the judiciary. She also held the posts of mayor and deputy mayor of Zadar.
Lovrin holds a law degree from the Zagreb Faculty of Law. She speaks English and is married with four daughters.
She succeeds Vesna Skare Ozbolt of the Democratic Centre (DC) party, who was relieved of duty on Thursday and is to continue her career as a member of parliament.
