The agreement was signed by EUROPOL director Max Peter Ratzel and Croatian Interior Minister Ivica Kirin. Also present at the signing ceremony were a Vice President of the European Commission and Commissioner for Justice and the Interior, Gianfranco Frattini, Austria's Interior Minister Liese Prokop and Justice Minister Karin Gastinger and Croatian Justice Minister Vesna Skare Ozbolt.
The agreement is important for Croatia and EU member states because it regulates issues of the fight against organised crime, notably through the exchange of information and regular contacts between EUROPOL and Croatia at all levels, Minister Kirin said after the signing.
He said the agreement was another step towards the country's integration with the EU.
Croatian Justice Minister Skare Ozbolt also positively assessed today's signing of the agreement.
